Weekday & Off-Peak Weddings: How to Pick a Date That Saves You Money
Your wedding date is the single biggest lever on your budget — bigger than the dress, bigger than the flowers. Move from a Saturday in March to a Friday in November and the same wedding, at the same venue, with the same vendors, can cost thousands less. Here's how the math works in Central Florida and how to choose a date without feeling like you settled.
Why Saturdays cost more
Simple supply and demand. There are only about 52 Saturdays a year, roughly 35 of them fall in Florida's comfortable season, and every couple, photographer, DJ, and caterer in the region is competing for the same ones. Venues price Saturdays at a premium because they can — and vendors often add a weekend surcharge on top.
The day-of-week discount at Destiny Ranch
Our venue pricing is all-in (no hidden fees) and changes only by day:
- Saturday — $4,995. Full day, music until 10pm, lights out at 11pm.
- Friday & Sunday — $3,995. Same full-day access and hours as Saturday. Save $1,000.
- Monday–Thursday — $2,995. 10am to 10pm, music until 9pm. Save $2,000.
That $2,000 difference alone covers a photographer upgrade, a full open bar for 100 guests, or most of a live band. Full details are on our packages page.
Vendors discount too
Many photographers, DJs, florists, and caterers quietly offer 10–20% off for Friday, Sunday, or weekday bookings — their calendars are open and they'd rather work than sit idle. The trick is to ask. Lead with "We're looking at a Friday in October — do you have off-peak pricing?" You'll be surprised how often the answer is yes.
Florida's real wedding season
In most of the country, June is peak. In Florida, it's the opposite. Our best weather runs October through April, which is why we close June through August entirely. Within that window there are still cheaper pockets:
- Peak demand: late October, November, March, and April. Book 12–18 months out for a Saturday.
- Lower demand: early-to-mid December, January, and early February. Cooler evenings, open calendars, and vendors eager to fill dates.
- Shoulder: September and May. Warm but workable, especially for a sunset ceremony — see our golden hour timing guide.
Watch out for holiday weekends
A Sunday before Memorial Day or Labor Day behaves like a Saturday — guests have the next day off, so demand (and hotel rates) jump. The same goes for Thanksgiving weekend, Valentine's Day, and anything near a major Orlando or Tampa event. If you're chasing savings, pick a plain Friday or Sunday with nothing special around it.
"But will my guests come on a weekday?"
This is the question we hear most, and the honest answer is: the people who matter will. A few things that help:
- Send save-the-dates early — 8–10 months out — so guests can request time off.
- Start later. A 5pm Friday ceremony lets local guests leave work and still make it. (Our Friday hours run the same as Saturday.)
- Frame it as a getaway. Bushnell is an hour from Orlando and Tampa — a Thursday or Friday wedding turns into a long weekend of theme parks or Gulf beaches.
- Keep the list tight. Weekday dates pair naturally with the 60–100 guest weddings that are trending anyway. Read more in our 2026 wedding trends guide.
A quick example
Same 100-guest wedding, two different dates:
- Saturday in March: venue $4,995 + full-rate vendors ≈ $19,000–$22,000 total.
- Friday in January: venue $3,995 + ~15% vendor savings ≈ $15,000–$17,000 total.
Roughly $4,000–$5,000 back in your pocket for moving one day and two months. Our full budget breakdown walks through every line item.
Check the calendar
Our live availability calendar shows which dates are open right now. Find a Friday, Sunday, or weekday you like, then book a tour — we'll walk the property together and talk through the timeline for your date.
