Can You Bring Your Own Alcohol to a Florida Wedding Venue? (Yes — Here's How)

It's one of the most-searched wedding questions in Florida, and the short answer is: yes — if you pick the right venue. Hotels and country clubs almost always require you to buy alcohol through their bar at a steep per-drink markup. But BYO-friendly venues like Destiny Ranch Events let you stock the bar yourself at retail prices. For most couples, that's one of the single biggest savings in the entire wedding budget.

How BYO alcohol works at Destiny Ranch

  • You buy the alcohol. Costco, Total Wine, ABC — wherever you like. Buy at retail, return unopened bottles after (check the store's policy).
  • A licensed bartender serves it. This is our one firm rule: all alcohol must be served by a licensed, insured bartender — no self-serve. It keeps your guests safe and your liability covered.
  • No corkage, no per-bottle fees. We don't charge you anything to bring your own bar.

What the savings actually look like

Venue bar packages in Central Florida commonly run $25–45 per guest for a basic open bar. For 150 guests, that's $3,750–6,750 before service charges.

Stocking your own bar for the same 150 guests typically looks like:

  • Beer (6–7 cases mixed): ~$250
  • Wine (4–5 cases mixed red/white): ~$400–550
  • Spirits + mixers for 2–3 signature cocktails: ~$400–600
  • Ice, cups, garnishes: ~$150
  • Licensed bartender for the evening: ~$300–500

Total: roughly $1,500–2,000 — often less than half the cost of a package bar, with better drinks and your own favorites on the menu.

Tips from weddings we've hosted

  • Signature cocktails beat a full bar. Two or three batch cocktails cover most tastes and simplify shopping.
  • Plan about one drink per guest per hour, front-loaded to cocktail hour and the first hour of dancing.
  • Buy more than you think, keep receipts. Most stores take back unopened bottles — running out mid-reception is the real risk.
  • Skip the champagne tower, pour prosecco. Nobody can tell the difference during a toast — the budget can.

It pairs with BYO catering, too

The same flexibility applies to food: bring any caterer, hire a food truck, or cook family recipes in our fully equipped on-site commercial kitchen. See how the whole budget comes together with our free wedding budget calculator, or start with the full Central Florida barn wedding planning guide.
