Wedding Planning Guide

How to Plan the Perfect Central Florida Barn Wedding (Between Orlando & Tampa)

There's a reason couples keep falling in love with the Central Florida countryside. Just past the theme parks and the traffic, the land opens up into oak canopies, quiet pastures, and golden evening light — the kind of setting that makes a wedding feel timeless. A Central Florida barn wedding gives you that storybook backdrop without giving up the comforts your guests expect.

At Destiny Ranch Events, a rustic wedding venue in Bushnell, FL, we've hosted hundreds of celebrations that bridge historic character and modern amenities. Here's what we've learned about planning a barn wedding your guests will never forget.

1. Choose a location your guests can actually get to

The prettiest venue in the world doesn't help if half your guest list dreads the drive. Bushnell sits almost exactly between Orlando and Tampa — roughly an hour from each — right off I-75. Guests coming from either metro area (or flying into either airport) have an easy, predictable trip.

Once they arrive, the setting does the rest: 38 acres of oak trees, open pastures, and resident horses and cows. There's room to breathe, room for photos, and free on-site parking — something downtown venues rarely offer.

2. Get historic charm — with modern comforts

The heart of our ranch is the Legacy Barn, built in the early 1900s in Georgia to house army horses and later moved to Florida, where it was carefully restored. The weathered wood and hand-hewn beams give your photos a warmth no new construction can fake.

But historic doesn't mean roughing it. Inside you'll find:

  • Powerful ceiling fans (and portable heaters in winter)
  • Two air-conditioned private dressing suites with covered access to the barn
  • A Bose sound system, wireless mics, and a sound mixer
  • A 16 × 9 ft LED screen for your photos and videos
  • Digital moving lights, a disco ball, and a haze machine for the dance floor

3. Design your dream sunset ceremony

Our outdoor ceremony site faces west into the sunset, framed by oak trees — and timing it right is the single best photography decision you'll make. A few tips from the weddings we've hosted:

  • Start 60–90 minutes before sunset. You'll say your vows in soft light and walk back up the aisle as golden hour begins.
  • Save 20 minutes for couple portraits at golden hour. The pastures glow, and the horses often photobomb beautifully.
  • Check seasonal sunset times. Florida winter sunsets run 5:30–6:00 pm; spring and fall stretch to 7:30–8:00 pm.

4. Keep costs low with flexible catering & BYOB

Here's where a ranch venue quietly saves couples thousands compared to hotel ballrooms: we don't lock you into in-house catering or a marked-up bar.

  • Bring any caterer you like — or cook your own food in our fully equipped on-site commercial kitchen. Family recipes, food trucks, your favorite taqueria: all welcome.
  • BYO liquor. Buy your alcohol at retail prices instead of paying per-drink markups; you just need a licensed bartender serving.
  • No hidden fees. Taxes, cleaning, trash removal, tables, chairs, and use of our decor collection are all included in the base price.
